Kia ora, I’m Clara, a New Zealand Registered Dietitian based in Canterbury.

I work as a Diabetes Clinical Dietitian Expert and provide nutrition support for people living with diabetes and other nutrition-related health conditions in both clinical and private practice settings. I have particular expertise in type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, insulin pump therapy, carbohydrate counting, cardiovascular risk reduction, and weight management.

Alongside my clinical work, I am completing a PhD. This allows me to bring the latest evidence and emerging technologies into my practice while helping people translate complex information into practical everyday strategies.

I completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in Human Nutrition and a Master of Dietetics through the University of Otago. Throughout my career, I have worked across a range of hospital and specialist services, developing expertise in diabetes management, cardiovascular health, and complex nutrition care.

My approach is collaborative, practical, and non-judgemental. I understand that nutrition advice needs to fit around real life, and I enjoy working alongside people to find sustainable strategies that support both their health goals and quality of life.

Outside of work and research, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring our beautiful country with my dog, and settling down with a good book.
